Comprehensive Car Insurance
The third article in this series that has already looked at third party car insurance and third party fire and theft car insurance will look at comprehensive car insurance cover.
As discussed in the two previous articles car insurance is a legal requirement for motorists on the UK roads. However it can be very daunting and confusing when trying to decide what type of cover would best suit your needs. These articles aim to help educate the motorist in the three main types of car insurance policies available in order to help them make the best decision.
The final type of car insurance that will be looked at is comprehensive car insurance cover. This type of car insurance tends to be the most expensive policy that a motorist can buy for their vehicle. However this policy offers the motorist the most protection out of all the policy types discussed in this series of articles.
In the event of accident, regardless of fault or if there were any other vehicles involved a motorist with fully comprehensive car insurance cover can expect to have any incurred costs covered. This means that your insurance company will either repair costs up to the value of the vehicle or pay out the market value of the car in the event of it being written off.
If the car is stolen then you can also expect the car insurance company to fully cover the market value of the vehicle under a comprehensive car insurance policy.
Fire damage is also covered in the same way that it is with third party fire and theft car insurance policies. The table below gives a summary of what is covered under a comprehensive car insurance policy.

Although comprehensive car insurance may be the most expensive cover available to the motorist it is highly recommended by the car insurance industry. The extra expense is justified by the level of cover that it offers the policy holder and means that you can avoid costly repair bills in the event of mishaps.
Comprehensive car insurance policies also provide the holder with the option of protecting their no claims bonus that can keep car insurance costs down in the event of making a claim. This type of cover is recommended for owners of medium to high cost vehicles and drivers that cover a lot of miles in a year.
