Police In Cumbria Get Tough On Uninsured Drivers

In Cumbria there has been a widespread positive response to the crack down on uninsured motorists. A new Police initiative was recently being tested whereby Police seized and disposed of motorist’s cars which were found to be on the road without motor insurance.

Many people asked if they thought that this would be viable on a larger scale and responses were mostly very encouraging. But a small minority thought that this type of action is a serious attack on civil liberites.

But on the whole, most people agree that having car insurance with a reputable company such as insure your motor is a much more positive thing. The overall feeling was that people who try to avoid the law should deal with the consequences. Especially of the law abiding citizen has to pay higher car insurance premiums because of it.

The estimated figures say that 1 in 20 people are driving without proper motor insurance cover which is around 1 million drivers. When an uninsured driver is involved in an accident the victims costs and spiral out of control. This in turn can bump up insurance premiums which is bad news for the driver who is looking for a good car insurance deal.
