A recent study by motor insurance companies has shown a many men still do not trust their wives or partners behind the wheel of a car. This is in spite of the growing evidence that women are actually safer drivers than men. Other major studies show that women on the whole drive with more care, are much less likely to be involved in bouts of road rage and encourage safety behind the wheel. Women are also less likely to speed and drink drive. These activates are normally associated with young male drivers. Car insurance companies reflect this by offering lower premiums to women.
Despite all this, the men interviewed would still consider themselves better at driving and even said they would pass a re-take of there driving test with flying colours. They also said the did not feel their wives or partners life skills were up to scratch and only a small percentage were happy to be in the passenger seat while their partner drove.
From the position of the car insurance company, this statement does not change the view that women would most likely get lower car insurance premiums than men. Although some welcome the idea of a re-test for men. This could has possible advantages in making car insurance for men lower but not significantly.
